going through the spam on one of my old email accounts I came over the newsletter of the Africa Festival in Wuerzburg, Germany. I went there in 2003 and 2004 I believe, were I was lucky to see “Mama Africa” Miriam Makeba as well as Vusi Mahlasela

This event in the city of Wuerzburg (in Bavaria, 130.000 population) is the biggest Festival for African culture and music in Europe. I think that’s pretty amazing for such a small city. For example this year Manu Dibango, YOUSSOU N’DOUR  and my favorite HUGH MASEKELA are performing. This year, were I can’t go to see it, I realize how great the opportunity was to see such great African Stars as Miriam and Vusi. Wuerzburg is a 1,5 h car ride away, you guys at home should get your tickets for this years festival and experience the greatness of Africa

Of course you guys know Miriam Makeba from her Song “Pata pata”. The other day I read about her and found out that she lost her only child Bongi when she was just 35 years old.

….and that is why i wasn’t posting recently. We were pretty busy doing sightseeing and fun stuff.

After a day in Central Park, we went to Times Square and Lincoln Center. We did a lot of shopping up and down on 5th Avenue, saw Chinatown and Soho, saw the Neighborhood Astoria and went over to Jackson Heights, took a tour at the United Nations, went to Grand Central Station, Battery Park and Wall Street.

5 days to come and lot of more stuff to see!

I always try to tape my cooking but somehow it never turns out good. I’m just too busy cooking or too busy taping… it just won’t work. Usually I forget to tape the most important step of the dish or I can’t handle stiring my food with a cam in my other hand.

Tonight I tried to cook Indien. All by myself without one of that instant powder products. On my endless trips to Jackson Heights I bought a little collection of different spices. Today I found out that I had all the spices for a Chicken Masala. I even found a video how to prepare it:
