The GERMAN TOURIST group :D
It’s a thing which goes on for years now: I’m posting on the german NYC message board. People chat with each other, usually you can say after 2 posts if they are fun or just different, anyway…. Once in a while I’m asked to go out with some “tourists” in the City for a drink and some food, what I always like to do. I think it’s very interesting because you get to know people from all different ages, backgrounds, people with the most different interests. Seriously, from the stylish looking 20 year old to the middle aged birkenstock wearing bavarian dude – everything can happen! Turnes out they are ALWAYS very nice. Seriously, after chatting you usually know already what kind of people will come along;)
Anyway, Wednesday night it was very spontanious. Sean and me decided to join a group at Jackson Hole Diner and we took them down to Bleecker Street afterwards. Let me tell you, we had a blast!! We walked over Washington Square Park where a group of people was jamming: They played “Papa was a rolling stone” by the Temptations and we all got one of these “New York Moments”. Yes, I clearly had a Moment. At the Red Lion we were listening to some life music and than we went to the Baggot Inn where they had Bluegrass Jam session with the Sheriff. Everybody in the group told me how much fun they had and let me tell you: I HAD FUN TOO!

Stevens Passport Application
Since that day Steven stopes by a couple of times a week. All day long he is working on papers he wants to send to “THE government”. Right now it’s his passport application. Turnes out the letter I wrote him last week wasn’t good enough, I had to do it again this week. He is very, veeery particular about small things like writing a “+1″ ahead of his phone number or mentioning the date at least 2 times. Also, just a signature won’t do, I have to write it out: Signature (doublepoint) – and than he signes. The last days he started asking for money. I won’t give him any. Yesterday he started arguing about that with no luck. Well, we see…. I would like to help him but he needs more than a Dollar once in a while.

It’s unbelievable, It’s the first day (well, the second) of Videobloggingweek 2008 and I already feel pressure!!! The frist video I posted is not really creative
) but I won’t loose the hope of coming up with something incredible
All day yesterday I tried to put a voice over on a video I took on my commute – the only problem is that i hate my voice! Maybe I’m thinking too much about it…. sometimes simple is better!
Anyway, I don’t give up yet. We will see tonight after work.

Yes, I moved to NYC because I watched too much ”Sex and the City”
But Rent.. oh my god.. I just love it so much! I just can’t help myself but that Show is so full of good things
Already on Tuesday I tried the Rent-Lottery. 2.5 h before every show you can put your name in a pot and after 30 Minutes they draw names. The lucky winners can get Tickets for $20 in the first two rows. So well, Tuesday we didn’t win (which wasn’t too dramatic since we went to the Afro-Cuban thing) but today I was lucky! Row AA, Seat 11 and 12!

I know, I didn’t post anything in a while. Well, I wasn’t really doing anything interesting the last weeks. I enjoy my new job a lot. Sunday night was a highlight though: Sean and me went to the Nuyorican Poet Cafe in the East Village to hear Bobby Sanabria and the African Cuban Jazz Orchestra of the New School. We liked it so much that we went out to hear him tonight again. This time at the Manhattan School of Music. Their African Cuban Jazz Orchestra was perfoming “Kenya” and 87 year old Candido Camera (who recorded that album 50 years ago) was playing the Congas. Do I have to mention that it was reeeeaaallyyy good? “uh’huh…. that’s right honey!”
I was checking youtube to find an example of the music we heard, but couldn’t find anything I liked. I suggest you just klick on the link to Mr. Sanabrias Page above, where his latest album is to hear

The Target First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum is definitely worth going every month. It’s a great Event filled with Fun, Information and Fun again.
At the Center for Feminist Art I saw already the second time Judy Chicago’s “Dinner Party” (39 place sets in vulva form), also some great Photographs in a exhibition called “Good bye Coney Island” and of course we went dancing!!! They had a quite good Brazilian DJ and a Tango Band.
We were from 6 to 11 pm and had a lot of fun. Oh, did I mention they also serve beer and wine? It’s definitely the best museum experience I had so far.
